Aerial Application to Control Mosquito Larvae

The Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project will be conducting helicopter applications of the biological larvicide Bti to control mosquito larvae.  The application will be conducted over specific large wetlands in Bellingham and surrounding towns between April 3 and September 18, 2009. The trade name of the granular formulations of Bti to be used is VectoBac G (EPA Reg. #73049-10). Futher information can be found on line at http://massnrc.org/ncmcp.

Goals for ‘09
Adopted: February 24, 2009

1. Review BOH relationships with other Town Boards/Agencies. incl. Inspector’s Office, Board of Selectmen, Conservation Commission, and perhaps others. (Carryover from ’08)

2. Seek to improve how the BOH carries out its executive functions to better assure continuity, follow-up, identification of tasks according to priority/time of the year. etc.
This area at times seems vague or loose, unclear, leaving the Board to missing possible deadlines, following up on activities, communicating with needed outside parties, etc.

3. Seek to fulfill the functions/tasks of the BOH Office in an efficient and cost effective manner without jeopardizing Public Health.

4. If successful in securing further grant monies re: Septic repair loans, examine the policies defining/limiting scopes of projects to be included in such loans. Consider outside limits, ceilings in allocations, ancillary modifications as opposed to definitive elements/costs associated with septic replacement/repair, etc.

5. To facilitate and promote mercury recycling and disposition in Bellingham.

6. To adopt body art regulations and licensing procedures.

7. To promote full development of the Town’s MRC.

8. To strive and do a full scale EDS exercise in Bellingham utilizing Fall Flu Clinic as  a test project.
